Co-Nominees Ruth Wilson & Carey Mulligan Covered Up At The Tony Awards

Was it a requirement for ‘Best Performance By An Actress In A Leading Role In A Play’ nominees to be demurely covered up at the Tony Awards??
Because if so, Ruth Wilson and Carey Mulligan are nailing the rules like it’s nobody’s business!
The losers (Helen Mirren won their category) both chose oddly shaped frocks for their moment on the step-and-repeat — and we have to say, they’re both misses.
The Constellations star opted for a true pink dress, which was a mix of a bodycon and ballgown silhouette. Utterly confusing!
While the Skylight actress chose an ill fitting strapless gown in oxblood.
And if this makes up for anything, their hair and makeup were pretty!
