Carey Mulligan‘s Suffragette opened last month to pretty favorable reviews despite a low box office take so far.
One thing you may not know about the flick though is the dedication that Carey had to her role and the lengths she went to in order to make the movie experience genuine!
Director Sara Gavron recently revealed in an interview:

“Carey Mulligan didn’t wash her hair for weeks. Often with period dramas, you can sometimes feel at a distance admiring the look, and we wanted to make something very real.”

As dirty as the actress’ hair might have gotten, it’s definitely not the most extreme makeunder an actor has gone through for a role in a film — Christian Bale was straight SCARY looking in The Machinist!
