Robert Loggia, a veteran of dozens of television shows and movies over the last several decades, died in on Friday Los Angeles at the age of 85.
The character actor known for his roles in Independence Day, Big, and Scarface had been struggling with Alzheimer’s disease for several years.

His wife Audrey confirmed the news to the public, reporting that Robert started showing severe signs of weakness on Wednesday, but rebounded enough by Friday to die peacefully at home, surrounded by family and friends.
The couple, who had been married for 33 years, had four children together including a daughter, Cynthia, who was able to be with her father when he passed.
Among other iconic roles, Loggia was nominated for an Oscar in 1986 for his work as a private detective in the film Jagged Edge.

On television, the actor won acclaim thanks to an Emmy nomination for his portrayal of an FBI agent in 1989’s Mancuso FBI, as well as a guest starring role on Malcolm In The Middle in 2000.
He also appeared more recently on The Sopranos in a role portraying a mobster. But we’ll always remember him like this:
