In a society that prizes long, luxurious hair, Gina Rodriguez isn’t afraid to buck the trend.
The actress shaved the sides of her head for an upcoming movie a few weeks ago, and has had to maintain the look ever since. But it has also taught her a lot about beauty in the process.

In a new photo shared over the weekend, the Jane the Virgin star flaunts her unorthodox ‘do and writes:
I cut my hair for a film and there is nothing more freeing then realizing your beauty exists from within. I am not my hair. I am not my weight. I am not my skin color. I am love, I want to be love with every interaction, with every decision I make for myself, with every failure and success. You should try it. I dare you.
