Gina Rodriguez Returns To Instagram Weeks After N-Word Controversy - & Turns Her Comments OFF!

Gina Rodriguez is back on the ‘Gram without a care in the world weeks after her n-word controversy.

As we reported, the Jane The Virgin star got heat last month for sharing a video of herself saying the hurtful word while singing along to The Fugees’ 1996 song Ready Or Not.

The star issued multiple Insta-pologies after critics lampooned her for the broadcast. Soon, her social media went dark altogether — until now!

On Thursday, G-Rod resurfaced on Instagram by sharing a pic of herself and husband Joe Lociero on a nature walk somewhere in Oregon. The actress was all smiles in the pic, probably because she made sure to turn off the comments. (Sry, critics!)

She did, however, leave her fans a message in the caption, writing:

“Love from Oregon”

Hopefully Gina’s been doing a lot of reflecting on this Oregonian retreat. After her initial apology left much to be desired, the Golden Globe winner told fans in a follow-up apology that she had “some serious learning and growing to do.”

She wrote in a lengthy IG message:

“In song or in real life, the words that I spoke, should not have been spoken. I grew up loving the Fugees and Lauryn Hill. I thoughtlessly sang along to the lyrics of a favorite song, and even worse, I posted it. The word I sang, carries with it a legacy of hurt and pain that I cannot even imagine. Whatever consequences I face for my actions today, none will be more hurtful than the personal remorse I feel. Watching my own video playing back at me, has shaken me to my core. It is humiliating that this has to be a public lesson but it is indeed a much deserved lesson. I feel so deeply protective and responsible to the community of color but I have let this community down. I have some serious learning and growing to do and I am so deeply sorry for the pain I have caused.”

Sadly, this isn’t the first time Gina’s been in race-related hot water this year.

During a Porter roundtable discussion about diversity in the biz with Ellen Pompeo, Emma Roberts, and Gabrielle Union, the 35-year-old said Latinas were paid the lowest wages, claiming:

“Where white women get paid more than black women, black women get paid more than Asian women, Asian women get paid more than Latina women, and it’s like a very scary space to step into.”

Critics were quick to pick apart her comment, pointing out that Sofia Vergara is the highest-paid actress in TV.

The backlash caused Gina to break down in tears during a subsequent interview with SiriusXM’s Sway in the Morning, during which she said:

“I never said actresses. I wasn’t speaking about my industry. I always find it difficult to talk about equal pay as a woman who makes a substantial amount of money. As somebody who came from poverty to now the amount of money I get paid, it doesn’t feel right that I’m the one talking about it, because I’m so damn grateful… What I was saying, was that when we talk about equal pay, we have to talk about intersectionality because we all must rise. And so the backlash was devastating to say the least because the black community was the only community I looked towards growing up. We didn’t have many Latino shows and the black community made me feel like I was seen, so to get anti-black is to say I’m anti-family.”

Let’s hope she’s learned something from all this!
