Gina Rodriguez Drops The N-Word In A Resurfaced Acting Clip -- NBD Or Ick?!

Gina Rodriguez n word acting clip

Hmmm…

After Gina Rodriguez dropped the n-word while singing along to The Fugees‘ song Ready Or Not, Twitter sleuths went searching and came across a video of the now 35-year-old using the word AGAIN in what appears to be a comedic scripted skit. And she seems pretty comfortable saying it, if you ask us.

Ch-ch-check out the resurfaced video (below):

This appears to be some sort of a scripted scenario, but it’s unclear what the complete context is. This may not have raised any red flags for her if she was acting, but she still said it, and considering what we know about her history, it feels icky nonetheless.

In case you’ve somehow missed the news on Tuesday, give her now-deleted Instagram Story (below) a watch, which has many in a frenzy:

Following the glam session snafu, Miz Rodriguez issued two apologies. The first was a short IG Story clip, which many online said wasn’t satisfactory enough:

“Hey what’s up everybody? I just wanted to reach out and apologize. I am sorry, I am sorry if I offended anyone for singing along to The Fugees, to a song I love, that I grew up on. I love Lauryn Hill, and I really am sorry.”

Late Tuesday evening, the Jane the Virgin star followed it up with a written post on her Insta feed, writing:

“In song or in real life, the words that I spoke, should not have been spoken. I grew up loving the Fugees and Lauryn Hill. I thoughtlessly sang along to the lyrics of a favorite song, and even worse, I posted it. The word I sang, carries with it a legacy of hurt and pain that I cannot even imagine. Whatever consequences I face for my actions today, none will be more hurtful than the personal remorse I feel. Watching my own video playing back at me, has shaken me to my core. It is humiliating that this has to be a public lesson but it is indeed a much deserved lesson. I feel so deeply protective and responsible to the community of color but I have let this community down. I have some serious learning and growing to do and I am so deeply sorry for the pain I have caused.”

What do U think about this new clip, Perezcious readers? Fine because she was acting? Or something she should have never said regardless?
