In South Korea, they take weed very seriously — even for rock stars.
So when K-Pop star T.O.P. of “biggest boy band in the world” Big Bang tested positive for marijuana — from an incident way back in October of last year — he was arrested by Seoul police on Thursday.
T.O.P. had just started a break from the group in which he was serving his mandatory two years of military service to the country, ironically, as part of the Korean National Police Agency.

The 29-year-old rapper allegedly smoked with a fellow trainee, a female also in her 20s, and first tried to pass off the weed as e-cigarettes — until the young woman confessed.
YG Entertainment, the agency who put Big Bang together, released a statement to the press confirming his guilt and cooperation with authorities:
“It is true that T.O.P smoked marijuana before the enlistment and we sincerely apologise for the outcome. The rapper has undergone a full police investigation, and is regretting his wrongdoing.”
In South Korea, just the use of marijuana can get you five years in prison or fine of 50 million won (about $60K).
