Azealia Banks thinks Cardi B is taking black women at least two years back!
The controversial rapper took aim at the breakout star in a new interview on The Breakfast Club, voicing her concern that Cardi’s persona was harming the culture.

She explained on the morning radio program:
“Two years ago, the conversation surrounding black women’s culture was really reaching an all-time high, and we were really like discussing our power amongst ourselves, and, you know, Beyonc├â┬⌐ came out with Lemonade. There was just this really, really, really intelligent conversation going on nationally and then everything just kind of changed and then it was like Cardi B.”
What’s so bad about the Bronx native’s persona? Her spelling, for starters:
“I’m just talking about this caricature of a black woman that black women themselves would never be able to get away with. Like, if my spelling and grammar was that bad, I’d be canceled. If Nicki Minaj spelled like that, we would be ragging on her all day.”
Tired of being ragged on, Cardi took to social media to address Banks’ interview. In a string of tweets, the Invasion of Privacy rapper expressed her frustrations over female rappers being bashed for speaking and acting how they want, writing:
Why is it that male rappers can speak how they want act how they want but people constantly bash me for it ? Why do i feel like i have to apologize for being who i am ?talking how i talk and being what ya call “Ghetto ” wtff .LEAVE ME ALONE !

But Banks had to have the last word. In response to Cardi’s tweets, she made another dig at the rapper’s English and blasted the 24-year-old for promoting unsafe sex:
Someone please come get Yara from ESL room 205.. she’s ripping her hair out and throwing milk around the lunchroom again https://t.co/eV7P7rEEKh

Right. If nicki Minaj said she doesn├óΓé¼Γäót use condoms or twerked on stage pregnant.. she would be cancelled. As would I… sis doesn├óΓé¼Γäót get it https://t.co/9FDdhacL32

Interestingly enough, Banks was a big fan of the Dominican rapper before her meteoric rise to fame — but she’s certainly singing a different tune now!
