It turns out the Trump Wall is the same standard of quality we’ve come to expect from the brand that gave us Trump Steaks, Trump Vodka, and Trump University.
Donald Trump has shut down the damn government for three weeks now, wrecking the bank accounts of hundreds of thousands of federal employees and endangering millions of Americans.
Really.

And the whole thing is over something that doesn’t even work.
Reporters at the border found a report from the Department of Homeland Security showing the wall Trump picked out, made of pointy steel slats, could be cut through with a “household saw.”

What is that anyway? Thin steel plating on styrofoam?
In typical Trump fashion, he of course lied about the report, claiming:
- he never said the wall would be 100% impenetrable (he did)
- that wall pictured was Obama’s wall (it wasn’t)
- it wasn’t the one he picked out (it was)

OK, look.
We know the wall is immoral.
It’s an answer to a crisis that doesn’t even exist.
It’s a physical symbol of xenophobia that spits in the face of Lady Liberty, with her message to “give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free.”
The wall says America isn’t the greatest country in the world, it isn’t a land of opportunity, we can’t even support refugees anymore.
A wall doesn’t make America strong, it makes us look scared.
We know all that.
But now we also know it’s useless.
