Didn’t he fight so hard for the role?!
It seems Chace Crawford will NOT be filling the lead role in the Footloose remake.
His reps claim that he dropped out and we can understand why! The entire production has changed since he signed on a year ago. Director Kenny Ortega left the project due to his tireless schedule working on the Michael Jackson film This Is It. Then, the studio abandoned the recent rewrite from Erin Brockovich screenwriter Susannah Grant and went with one by Hustle & Flow writer/director Craig Brewer. And they still don’t have a director!
The only thing they have going is that Dancing With the Stars‘ Julianne Hough is still attached to the project.
It’s rumored that the studio wants to cast an unknown and will be doing launching a nationwide search to find the right guy. Strap on your dancing shoes, kids!
