Rubber ducky, you’re the one – until it gets lodged in a dogs stomach!
When Jasmine, a 7-year-old Staffordshire bull terrier in Scotland, started vomiting and stopped eating, her owner Nicola Waters was a little worried to say the least.
She took Jasmine to the vet where x-rays showed a rubber ducky lodged in her small intestine!
Apparently, Jasmine had swallowed Nicola’s niece’s rubber bath toy 9 months earlier, but it wasn’t until it got stuck in the intestine that Nicola noticed any problems.
Veterinary surgeon Siobhan Casey said, “If it had been left a week longer, it could have easily been fatal.”
Thank goodness it wasn’t! We’d hate to see an animal die at the hands of a rubber bath toy.
Luckily, with the toy removed, Jasmine has made a quick recovery, but on a sadder note, rubber duckies are now banned from the household.
