Adrianne Curry Responds To America's Next Top Model Tyra Banks Doc Drama

If you expected Tyra Banks to apologize for what she put the aspiring models through on America’s Next Top Model in her new docuseries, you’ll be disappointed. However, a former winner of the competition show is applauding the supermodel for at least staying true to herself.

As you may know, Netflix released a new three-episode documentary called Reality Check: Inside America’s Next Top Model on Monday. It brought back Tyra, along with executive producer Ken Mok and judges/mentors Jay Manuel, J Alexander AKA Miss J, Nigel Barker, and several former contestants, to discuss the controversies surrounding the show over the years. Everything from the incredibly harsh critiques, including those about the models’ bodies, extreme makeovers, racially offensive photo challenges, and more.

While many fans hoped for Tyra and the others would apologize for their actions, that does not really happen in the doc. In fact, the host even blamed the viewers at one point, saying they did what they did because we wanted more. Hmmm… We’re pretty sure fans didn’t ask the models to switch their races for a photo at any point. But sure, blame the viewers for that.

Perhaps the most shocking and infuriating moment to come out of the documentary is how ANTM framed Cycle 2 contestant Shandi Sullian‘s intoxicated hookup with a man in Milan as an act of infidelity. However, Shandi revealed in the doc that she had been sexually assaulted, and no one stepped in. They filmed it instead. Tyra, who was an executive producer on ANTM, refused to say she’s sorry while discussing the horrible incident. No, she blamed it on the other producers, insisting “that’s not my territory.”

Awful…

Many viewers are now upset over the lack of accountability from Tyra, but Adrianne Curry, who won cycle 1, commended her for not apologizing! Shocking, we know! But in her eyes, Tyra has never cared, so why does anyone want her to lie now? The Surreal Life alum said in a video posted to Instagram on Monday:

“I have mad respect for Tyra Banks. She is not sorry. She is not apologizing to you. That b**ch is not effing sorry. She will not bend the knee. And I respect that. You want her to lie? Lie and say how bad she feels? Everyone’s coming to me like, ‘None of the judges are sorry.’ Why should they be? They’re all loaded. Why should they give a flying f**k? If they didn’t give a f**k at the time, they certainly ain’t going to give a f**k now? But mad respect for Tyra because that’s hard to push back on that many people trying to struggle session with you. She’s just like, ‘F**k you, I do what I want.’ And I gotta respect that.”

Adrianne concluded, saying:

“So I tip my hat, my lady. Keep on being yourself, which is someone who doesn’t give a flying s**t.”
