I woke up like this. LOLz!
But srsly, Beyoncé’s lyrics from her song Flawless seem to fit so perfectly with the idea behind Aerie’s newest Spring 2014 campaign starring ALL unretouched models!
The sister brand of American Eagle launched the campaign in hopes of showing their customers to embrace their own beauty.
And since there seems to be a new Photoshop controversy every month, this is a pretty brave idea!
Plus, it’s refreshing seeing all these girls in their unretouched glory — it’s so…normal.
Amber Tolliver, a model from the campaign revealed to Elle:
“Our bodies, our flaws, our tattoos, our pimples, everything that is on our bodies is unretouched, and it├óΓé¼Γäós beautiful. It├óΓé¼Γäós so incredible to be a part of [this campaign] because young girls see these photos and they├óΓé¼Γäóre like ‘Oh, wait, this is what I look like’ or ‘I can relate to that, and I can see myself in these clothes.'”
And she also went on to say:
“I do like to see a little retouching on myself. I mean, any normal person is slightly insecure about little things on their body, and you can blink an eye and poof it├óΓé¼Γäós gone [in retouching], great. But, again, that is our response to what society says is beautiful. You look in the mirror and you pick yourself apart and say, ‘Oh I need fuller lips, my cheeks need to be higher and my eyebrows should be this way,’ not because that├óΓé¼Γäós what we├óΓé¼Γäóve come up with on our own but because that├óΓé¼Γäós what society has said. And so, I do like to see slight retouchings on my flaws, sure, but the beauty of the Aerie campaign is that all of my flaws are out there.”
What do U think???
