Alison Brie Remembers The Entourage Audition Where Producers Asked Her To Take Her Top Off

Alison Brie is here with your weekly reminder of how slimy and degrading the Hollywood audition process can be.
After a rousing screening of her new Netflix series GLOW at the ATX Television Festival, the actress spoke bluntly on whether or not things have improved for actresses since the show’s 1980s setting.

Apparently not that much, as the Community alum had her fair share of icky audition experiences while trying to break into the biz. She admitted:

“It has not changed that much. The audition process has not changed that much.”

Brie recounted one particularly gross audition for HBO‘s Entourage, telling the crowd on Sunday:

“Early in my career, I auditioned for three lines on an episode of Entourage that I had to go on in a bikini! Or like shorts and the tiniest shorts. And they were like, ├óΓé¼╦£Okay, can you take your top off now?'”

Gross! But given the nature of the show — not the least bit surprising, sadly.

Thankfully, Brie made it clear the GLOW casting process was nothing like her awful Entourage experience. But talk of the 34-year-old’s horror story continued on Twitter, with GLOW writer Sara Vilkomerson writing:

GLOW casting director Jennifer Euston chimed in as well, noting such abuse of power is inappropriate and “inexcusable.” She shared:

Aside from a lack of morals in the audition room, Brie also lamented over a lack of interesting roles for women in general, continuing:

“I’ve gone through auditions for Marvel movies and auditioned a million times for roles with three lines and you are begging for them. And I’d be glad to get them! It’s brutal, it just is.”

Clearly, the times need to change a little faster.
