So THIS could make things infinitely more complicated for Amanda Bynes, to say the least.
The 33-year-old star apparently still hasn’t introduced her new fiancé to her parents quite yet, according to a source close to the star. That’s a big move not made, of course, and one which makes us wonder just how realistic this whole engagement thing can be moving forward from here.

Per a source who spoke to ET about the matter, the She’s The Man star’s mom and dad have yet to meet her new man, despite the fact that they’ve now known each other for a little more than two months and they are now engaged. As we’ve reported previously, too, the fiancé is a 28-year-old LA native named Paul Michael; the couple apparently met at the same shared sober living facility late last year.
Of course, you’ll recall the pair got engaged on Valentine’s Day — the same day in which the former child star surprisingly shared the good news on Instagram, writing in a post “engaged to tha love of my life.” The news was unexpected, to say the least, but it also brought forth quite a few questions about her mental well-being.
And yet, as we noted Wednesday, there’s just one little problem with this whole scenario: Bynes can’t get married without her mother’s approval. No seriously, like, her legal approval!! Due to the embattled star’s current conservatorship, both her mother and a judge must sign off on any wedding that would take place.
It’s not technically clear at this point where her momma stands on the current engagement. Of course, judging by the fact that the star’s parents haven’t even met the guy yet, well, perhaps you can draw some of your own conclusions on this one…
A Tough Two Months!
And so this marks yet another bizarre turn of events for the former What A Girl Wants star, who has been in the news quite a bit over the last couple of months after walking out of a sober living facility in mid-December. Days after leaving the center, a judge ordered her to return and continue treatment as part of her conservatorship, and things have been unpredictable AF pretty much ever since.
Here’s hoping Amanda gets and continues to receive the emotional and physical support she needs from friends, family, and professionals. Who knows how this engagement is going to play out, but here’s hoping the Easy A star gets to a safe, healthy place after several months of turmoil and uncertainty.
