Amber Portwood is making herself clear: she’s the one who chose to exit Teen Mom: The Next Chapter!
Amid rumors the MTV star was fired from the show that made her famous, she’s claiming she’s the one who pulled the plug. Of course, the latest season has been one hell of a ride for Amber — mainly because of how her relationship with her daughter Leah Shirley is playing out. And now, just weeks after the 16-year-old said she wants to be adopted by her stepmother, the 34-year-old is dropping out of the show.

She explained on a TikTok livestream Saturday:
“Not only am I not being let go, I quit three days ago. I told Larry, the producer, I quit. My mental health was one of the things I said other than the yelling and crying from being so damn hurt from stuff.”
Avid watchers of the series know Amber has been diagnosed with bipolar disorder, and it’s become apparent in recent months she’s been struggling behind the scenes. She explained the show was really exacerbating her issues — and blames the way she was being characterized:
“I started to see that all they were pushing, all this crazy stuff, that tore my heart out.”
Naturally having some of her worst moments broadcast to millions must make everything that much worse. So we applaud Amber making the choice to protect her mental health. If she made the choice…
Like we said, the video is in response to rumors she had been kicked off the show. She said on her livestream she thinks it’s “weird” people think she was fired just because of things they heard “through the grapevine”. She argued it wouldn’t make sense for them to fire her because she was their perfect little reality show villain!
“If I’m gone, who’s gonna be the villain for them? Who’s gonna play that role? Who are they gonna keep lying about and having their puppets making up stories like that?”
Yeesh! Hmm. The question is… do you believe her?
