Amber Portwood Catches A Break -- Cops Plea Deal With No Prison Time In Domestic Battery Case

Amber Portwood plea deal machete attack

This is one heck of a good break for Amber Portwood.

The Teen Mom star has reached a plea deal in her ongoing domestic battery case in Indiana, and as per the terms of the deal her legal team was able to strike with prosecutors, she will not serve ANY jail time. The agreement, which appears to have been fully reached on Friday, mandates that she receive one felony charge, and be under probation for a full year.

Still further, once Portwood successfully completes probation for the entire year, her felony charge will then be automatically reduced to a misdemeanor. That’s very forgiving, considering her current situation!! And walking away with just one felony charge, and no jail time, is a far cry from some of the potential consequences she was facing, following her alleged violent altercation with baby daddy and boyfriend Andrew Glennon back in July.

As you’ll recall, we reported at the time that it was alleged she had come after Glennon with a machete — something Amber denies — while the scared father held their young son James in his arms. An affidavit from the event claims the reality TV momma wielded the machete at Glennon as he held James, and then she eventually hit him with her shoe. Amber was arrested and charged at the time, and very quickly, Andrew sought full-time custody of James, split from her, and moved back to California.

As we noted, Amber has long since denied that a machete was present at the time of the incident, regardless of where she’s been in the legal process. At one point back in September, she sat down with celeb medical expert Dr. Drew Pinsky about the altercation, again vehemently denying that anything happened in a way like what was being reported, and saying (below):

“I opted out of drug court a long time ago to put myself in prison to help myself [in an earlier incident]. You haven’t heard s**t from me since then. I haven’t got in trouble one time. But all of a sudden, I’m running after my kid and [Andrew] with a machete? You’re insane.”

Well then!

Machete or not, life goes on now for Amber Portwood with at least some weight off her shoulders, knowing she won’t have to spend time in prison over this, her latest domestic incident.

According to E! News, she’s still hoping to regain at least partial custody of baby James, while currently receiving supervised visits with him. She’s also reportedly using those visits to film the upcoming next season of Teen Mom OG. Gotta keep the paychecks coming, we suppose!
