Woah!!
The fashion world seems to be progressing in leaps and bounds lately!
While Barneys New York landed upon 17 transgender models for their spring campaign, MCM is taking a similar — yet entirely different — route.
They, too, are embracing the concept of diversity. But instead of using trans models, they chose a well-known androgynous model: Andrej Pejic!
MCM explained on their site why the choice made sense in the context of their Spring/Summer 2014 line, saying:
├óΓé¼┼ôFor Spring / Summer 2014, MCM voyages to a sanctuary-of-style, introducing discerning global connoisseurs to embark on the latest reverie-inspired campaign entitled ├óΓé¼┼ôFlower Boys in Paradise├óΓé¼┬¥. Inspired by Arcadian utopias dominated by the androgynous and techno-futuristic, the latest collections elucidate gender-normative tensions in design & traditional delineations of style, presenting a first-time ‘epicene’ collection. Embracing a stylised nature-couture lens, MCM becomes the complete embodiment of a utopian prose where reality and fantasy coexist.├óΓé¼┬¥
So in simpler terms, they chose an an androgynous model to be the face of their very first unisex line!!
Brilliant. And beautiful!
