Now here’s something you don’t hear everyday…
While many of us have a love-hate relationship with social media and its knack for being both amazing and truly toxic at times, Anne Hathaway is one of the few out there who’s got major love for one platform in particular: Instagram!

In the latest for Town & Country, the Ocean’s Eight actress opens up about feeling “grateful” to be able to have a say in what and how she shares bits of her life with the public:
“Having the ability to do something on my own terms has been good for me. It has allowed me to calm down and communicate in a way that’s more clear.”
That’s cool and all, but still very interesting to hear from someone who isn’t exactly posting every day and documenting their every move (or ridiculous sponsored ads) a la Kim Kardashian West. But maybe that’s exactly how she likes it!
The 36-year-old admits that while she does still struggle with the downsides of social media at times, she’s figured out a way to scroll through her feed without as much guilt, explaining:
“I really am way more on top of the garbage that I allow into my life.”
The actress shared her bold but effective tip for purging the negativity and stress when it becomes too much to handle. Hathaway starts first by writing everything down for about 12 minutes:
“Set a timer on your phone, have a candle nearby, and write it all down. You spew it all out. You do not read it. The timer goes off, you tear it out of the book, and you light it on fire. All of this energy, this angst, this rage—everything is smoke.”
Whoa — thanks for the tip, Anne! Sounds very cathartic and dangerous at the same time. LOLz!
We recommend using a bit of caution with that one!
