Ariana Grande Cancels Fan Event As Her Anxiety & Depression Are At 'An All Time High'

Ariana Grande has been having a rough few days.

The songstress opened up to fans via Instagram Story about her current anxiety and depression struggles, following the cancellation of a fan meet and greet event in Antwerp, Belgium on Friday, August 30 ahead of her concert in the same city.

The 7 Rings singer penned in the lengthy social post:

“Time for some honesty. My anxiety and depression have been at an all time high lately. I have been giving you all ive got an trying to push through as hard as I can and mask it. Today has been an extra rough one.”

Ari continued (below):

“After a handful of panic attacks, I feel like the wisest decision would be to not do sound check party or m&g today and preserve my energy for the show. I don’t want to rush through our time together or seem shaky. I like spending actual time with you and I wont be able to be present or give you the best of me today. I wish I had control over these attacks but as anybody with anxiety or depression understands, sometimes you can only operate on its terms and not your own.”

She closed out her statement by reassuring fans that were affected by her decision would be “fully reimbursed for this cancellation” of the event, writing:

“I love you. im so sorry. I promise I will absolutely give you the best show I can.”

Her honest admission came two days after performing at the Manchester Pride Festival in England, just over two years after a suicide bomber killed 22 people and injured over 130 other during her concert in the same city. The former Victorious star has been open in the past about the PTSD she has suffered since the attack, even sharing photos of her brain scans.

On Saturday, the 26-year-old reposted a message to her IG story, which is very telling of where’s she’s at:

“When you feel overwhelmed, remember that nothing outside of this very moment matters, everything else has its own time, and the past and future are not important right now, just do your best at this moment, and don’t think beyond that. It takes a second to ground yourself and feel present. Make the rest of today a good one, or if that’s too much, make this hour a good one. Trust that your efforts will build up.”

And on Sunday for reasons unknown, Ari did a quick purge of her Insta account, removing a video of her singing at the Belgium concert, and pix of her dog in Paris.

Clearly, Ariana still has some demons to battle, but we can only hope she’s on the road to becoming her healthiest and happiest self. We continue to send her love as she gets through this difficult time.
