Despite the controversial start to their relationship, Ariana Grande and Ethan Slater are in “pure bliss”.

So… what the heck makes this relationship so special? Why was it worth Ari tanking her reputation by ditching her own marriage and going after a married co-star?? One insider has something of an answer for us.

A source for US Weekly dished that the pair are stronger than ever — and their strengths come from the way their relationship is different from past ones:

“Ariana and Ethan have written a whole new book together. [They are] still in the honeymoon phase of pure bliss.”

What makes Ari and Ethan so different, though? She actually has things in common with him! The insider said:

“The Wicked press tour made their relationship ever stronger, and Ariana is over the moon about Ethan. They have so much in common, which is something Ari never had with past relationships.”

Sorry, that’s something she’s “never had” with other boyfriends? Even with her husband?? Having a lot in common? Isn’t that usually one of the first criteria people look for when they start dating?

Apparently not Ari! The source says this is a totally “new dynamic” for the 31-year-old pop star. Based on her exes, we can only assume previously she led with pure physical attraction. She’s dated some hotties!

But this time? Well, we know she and Ethan are both musical theater nerds, so they definitely have that. Ooh, and they were both married when they met, does that count? Kidding!

Apparently “their friends are fully supportive” as well, despite the shaky beginnings. So despite what strangers on the internet may think of them, they’re able to tune out the noise and are “living in bliss”. Hmm.
