Avril Lavigne's Hello Kitty Music Video Is Racist?! Not According To Her! See The Haters Reactions, Her Response, & Decide For Yourself HERE!

avril lavigne releases a message to her haters
WHOOOOOA boy, this whole situation got heated — and FAST!!
Avril Lavigne released her newest music video for her song Hello Kitty the other day and it was FILLED with Japanese inspired references.
As any song named Hello Kitty would be!
But she’s receiving some MAJOR backlash which includes calling the Sk8r Boi singer a racist!
And after seeing the video, the internet has NOT been kind to her:
TIME Magazine said:

A message to our alien overloads: Who are you and what have you done with Avril Lavigne? Last time we checked on our beloved h8r of sk8r bois, she was riding around town handing out middle fingers like Halloween candy with the propulsive pop-rock of “Rock N Roll” and “17.”

Yikes!
And Billboard was NOT any nicer! In an article titled “Avril Lavigne ‘Hello Kitty’ Video Is An Embarrassment In Any Language,” they SLAMMED the songstress.
They said:

When she’s not commanding her vaguely offensive troop, Lavigne is clumsily playing guitar, wearing glasses, eating sushi, waving at admirers, taking a single photograph, and├óΓé¼┬ª not much else, really….
The “Hello Kitty” video tries to do nothing. Its laziness is demonstrated in the first 21 seconds, during which Lavigne holds a plush stack of cupcakes, shakes her hips, stares at the cupcakes, bounces her shoulders, and then, when she sings the line “Someone chuck a cupcake at me”├óΓé¼┬ª tosses the fake cupcakes at the camera, her lip movement not matching up to the backing track whatsoever. Cool!

Whoa. Major ouch.
However, not one to take the backlash lying down, Avril took to her Facebook to release a statement to the haters.
She said:

RACIST??? LOLOLOL!!! I love Japanese culture and I spend half of my time in Japan. I flew to Tokyo to shoot this video specifically for my Japanese fans, WITH my Japanese label, Japanese choreographers AND a Japanese director IN Japan.

Well, at least she cleared up HOW the video’s Japanese-inspired theme came about and, really, we don’t think it’s racist so much as it’s just really uncharacteristic of Avril!
What happened to riding around on skateboards and flipping people off!
Hell, we’d even take the sappy, Chad Kroeger filled video over this one!
But ch-ch-check out the kawaii-heavy video (below) to see for yourself!!!
