'Grandma The Clown' Performer Resigns From Big Apple Circus After Admitting To Pressuring Teen Into Taking Pornographic Photos

Barry Lubin
Expose them all!!!
As of Tuesday, Barry Lubin — the man who performed as the beloved “Grandma the Clown” for decades for the Big Apple Circus — resigned after his past sexual misconduct came back to haunt him.
Last Friday, former aerialist Zoey Dunne wrote a letter to the circus accusing the longtime performer of pressuring her into taking pornographic photos when she was 16 years old. Speaking to the New York Times, Dunne said in 2004 Lubin offered her work with Big Apple’s mini-troupe, but first she would have to pose for his “personal photography business.”

That’s where he had her lie down in a bathing suit and pretend to be sleeping. When she refused to take off her underwear, Lubin had her change into a thong and pose with her legs spread. He told her not to tell the circus, and paid her $100 in cash. He later “insisted” on a second session and paid her another $100. So disgusting.
This isn’t the first time Dunne has tried to come forward. In 2011 or 2012 she was told by the police that the statute of limitations had expired. In 2012, she also tried telling the circus, but was told they couldn’t do anything because Lubin was not currently with the Big Apple Circus.
Three months ago, Dunne learned Lubin was back with Big Apple Circus via Facebook… so she brought the story back to their attention. Almost immediately, he was placed on leave.
In a statement, Lubin admitted to the accusations along with his resignation, saying in a statement:

“The allegations are true. What I did was wrong, and I take full responsibility for my actions. I not only failed Ms. Phillips [Dunne’s maiden name], but I also failed in my responsibility as a man, an adult, a father, and as a representative of the Big Apple Circus.”

Good riddance.
