By now we’ve all seen Ben Affleck’s touchy-feely weekend with ex-wife Jennifer Garner. And there’s apparently a lot more where that came from! But it might now be what you think…
On Sunday, the former spouses took their son Samuel to celebrate his 13th birthday with some paintball action. But as fun as it looked, the festivities seemed to also double as a date for mom and dad! In footage obtained by TMZ, Ben can be seen pulling his Daredevil co-star in tight for a hug, and it’s just SO romantic. You certainly don’t need your rose-colored lenses to identify an intimate connection!
On Wednesday, a source told People that isn’t an isolated incident:
“They have been on good terms for a while now and seem to enjoy chatting and hanging out. Most of the time, the kids are around too.”
An insider told TMZ they do family stuff like this all the time, most of which no one ever sees. So this isn’t even that big a deal to them! People‘s source added Ben “usually acts happy around” Jen but has been “extra giddy lately, though, and much more affectionate.”

Well, YEAH. As for how Jen is receiving it, the source claimed:
“She doesn’t seem to mind. She seems to enjoy spending time with Ben.”
Inneresting.
A separate source called Ben “charming,” adding:
“When he’s doing well, he has great energy. Right now, Jen has only good things to say about him.”
However, with the “great energy” comes his darker side, too:
“She enjoys spending time with him. He’s a great dad too. But he also has this dark, struggling side that resurfaces. Over the years, it affected their marriage negatively and caused their divorce.”
DailyMail.com reported on Wednesday that Jen is “deathly afraid” of falling in love with Ben again after he burned her so bad the last time… The People source said Jen has “come a long way since” since that heartbreak:
“She’s doing great. She loves her new home that she built for her and the kids. John [Miller] is a fantastic boyfriend. Their relationship is very normal.”
We’re so glad she has someone stable! No shade to Ben, but she deserves some consistency! And a source for the Argo director called the reconciliation rumors “ridiculous,” anyway. A separate source told the outlet on Monday he’s giddy because she’s just the best:
“They’re on great terms. Jen’s very happy with Ben. He spends a lot of time with the kids. They get along great. She makes him laugh like no one else can. She seems happy that Ben’s happy.”
But according to sources, that great connection… is completely platonic. No chance of reconciliation or romance starting up again. Another insider speaking to TMZ on Wednesday called the talk “ridiculous”.
A Ben confidant reduced the rumors to nothing beyond gossip, and claimed there’s no interest on his end beyond co-parenting and being great friends with the Love, Simon star. They say he doesn’t have much interest in dating at all at the moment, as he’s reportedly happy with living the single life after his divorce from Jennifer Lopez. Instead, he’s focusing on channeling his energy into a new movie he’s directing and spending more time with his and Jen’s kids.
