Bill Cosby's Attorney Fires Back At MSNBC's Michael Eric Dyson For Accusing The Comedian Of 'Raping' The Black Community

Sounds like Bill Cosby‘s recent request didn’t sit too well with one of MSNBC‘s contributors.
On Wednesday, just a few days after the actor asked the black media to keep a “neutral mind” about the sexual assault allegations against him, Michael Eric Dyson came out to accuse Bill of “raping” the black community.

The host stated his opinion on the comedian’s call to action on Now With Alex Wagner.
He said:

“The very kind of man who would rape women, allegedly, is the same kind of man who will rape an entire black community, poor black people who are vulnerable before him, using his powerful foot to clump down on their necks.”

That comment, however, did NOT go over too well with Bill’s legal counsel.
Attorney John P. Schmitt released a statement on Thursday in response to Michael’s comment.

His statement reads:

“Michael Eric Dyson, who has been a persistent critic of Mr. Cosby’s call for responsibility in the African-American community, has stated that Mr. Cosby’s request for neutrality is part of what he calls Mr. Cosby’s ‘rape [of the ] entire black community.’ Mr. Cosby understands that Mr. Dyson does not agree with Mr. Cosby’s views, but such mean-spirited and reckless rhetoric cannot go unchallenged by responsible people and journalists.
To be clear, Mr. Cosby did not ask for special treatment from the African-American media. To the contrary, he asked that they adhere to journalistic standards and approach the story in a neutral manner ├óΓé¼ΓÇ£ without a predisposition on either side of the story. It is of course what we would expect of all media. Those words, which are clear on their face and with which any fair-minded person would have to agree, have now been the source of even greater criticism of Mr. Cosby.”

While Bill’s request was a simple one, the Georgetown professor did take it to another extreme by accusing the 77-year-old of “raping” the black media.
Remaining neutral on a huge scandal like this one is a bit difficult since there have been astounding claims stacked up against the star — but it shouldn’t be something journalists have to be reminded to do!
