Bill Cosby DENIED New Trial In Assault Case -- Here's Why!

[Warning: Potentially Triggering Content]

A decision has been made over whether Bill Cosby will get a new trial in the sexual assault case…

As you may recall, Donna Motsinger accused the actor of drugging and raping her after inviting her to one of his comedy shows back in 1972. A jury found Bill liable for sexual assault and sexual battery, awarding the victim $17.5 Million for past mental suffering and $1.75 Million for future suffering. She also received $40 million in punitive damages.

However, Bill filed for a new trial in April. He argued the punitive damages award is a third of his net worth and doesn’t serve the purpose of deterrence, especially since he’s “an 88-year-old man with no sight who lives an isolated life.” But the judge isn’t siding with Cosby! According to new legal documents obtained by TMZ on Friday, his motion for another chance to defend himself against the assault allegations has been DENIED!

The judge determined that Bill failed to show any proof that he didn’t have a fair trial the first time around, and he didn’t prove that the $60 million in total damages were excessive. Per the docs, the comedian also failed to demonstrate that there wasn’t enough evidence to justify the verdict or that the verdict was against the law.

At this time, Bill hasn’t reacted to the decision. What are your thoughts, Perezcious readers? Let us know in the comments (below).
