We can’t even imagine what Andrea Constand‘s mother must have felt when her daughter told her she was drugged and sexually assaulted by Bill Cosby.
Although the alleged attack happened at the actor’s home back in 2004, the comedian’s supposed victim didn’t open up to her mother, Gianna, until January 13, 2005.

According to her newly released statement from January 22, 2005, Miz Constand told a Montgomery County (Pennsylvania) detective and a Cheltenham Police Department detective why she eventually decided to tell her mom about the scary situation, saying:

“I had a flashback. I just called my mom and said, ‘I need to tell you about something that happened to me.’ I said something happened a while back. I said it involved Mr. Cosby.'”

The statement included the way Andrea recounted the horrifying moment to her momma, revealing:

“I said, ‘One night around this time last year I was invited to Mr. Cosby’s house and he gave me pills and he sexually violated me without me consenting.'”

But the now-43-year-old also explained why it took her some time before opening up about that traumatic time:

“Before I was going to say anything to anyone I had to put my own thoughts and feelings together. I was emotionally shocked. I was still traumatized about the whole situation. I had some emotional stress I was dealing with. I needed to come to terms with this on my own.”

As we’d expect, Gianna was reportedly livid and called the comedian to demand an explanation. While he didn’t answer her initial call, the sitcom star supposedly called Andrea’s momma back a few days later and they talked for over two hours.
In his unsealed deposition from over a decade ago, the actor opened up about his conversation with the alleged victim’s mother, saying:

“She said, ‘I want to know the truth, what you did to my daughter.’ Andrea was depressed and gotten pneumonia … She said three times, ‘This is a mother’s nightmare.’ … She said, ‘I don’t know how long it’s going to take Andrea to heal and I don’t know how long it’s going to take me to heal.'”

And in Bill’s statement to police on January 26, 2005, he recalled that he apologized to Gianna and added:

“‘What can I do?’ She said, ‘Nothing.’ She said ‘Your apology is enough.'”
