Bill Cosby's Publicist Hits Back At 'Hollywood Slave' Eddie Murphy After 'SNL' Mention

During his return to Saturday Night Live over the weekend, Eddie Murphy went a little too far for a laugh in the eyes of Bill Cosby.

ICYMI, the Trading Places actor took his turn guest-hosting the late-night show after 35 years away, and he was met with extreme praise from viewers while back in his element. But the disgraced The Cosby Show star wasn’t too pleased with his dig in Murphy’s opening monologue.

The father-of-ten shared with the audience:

“My kids are pretty much my whole life now. If you told me 30 years ago that I’d be this boring stay-at-home house dad and Bill Cosby would be in jail, even I wouldn’t have took that bet.”

He mimicked the convict’s Cliff Huxtable voice:

“Who is America’s dad now?”

Give it a watch for yourself from the 1:29 mark (below):

It wasn’t all fun and games for Andrew Wyatt, the 82-year-old’s publicist, who responded late Sunday evening via Instagram to his jokes:

“Mr. Cosby became the first Black to win an Emmy for his role in I Spy and Mr. Cosby broke color barriers in the Entertainment Industry, so that Blacks like Eddie Murphy, Dave Chappell, Kevin Hart and et al., could have an opportunity to showcase their talents for many generations to come. It is sad that Mr. Murphy would take this glorious moment of returning to SNL and make disparaging remarks against Mr. Cosby.”

But he didn’t stop there:

“One would think that Mr. Murphy was given his freedom to leave the plantation, so that he could make his own decisions; but he decided to sell himself back to being a Hollywood Slave. Stepin Fetchit plus cooning equals the destruction of Black Men in Hollywood.”

To finish it off, Wyatt proposes “a meeting of the minds conversation,” though it’s unclear if he’s referring to himself and the comedian, or Eddie and his convicted sex offender client:

“Remember, Mr. Murphy, that Bill Cosby became legendary because he used comedy to humanize all races, religions and genders; but your attacking Mr. Cosby helps you embark on just becoming click bait. Hopefully, you will be amenable to having a meeting of the minds conversation, in order to discuss how we can use our collective platforms to enhance Black people rather than bringing all of us down together. #NotFunnySNL #SNL #FarFromFinished #FreeBillCosby #BillCosby”

Eddie has yet to respond to what Wyatt had to say, but we wouldn’t be too surprised if he hits back sometime soon about it all. He previously backed out of portraying the disgraced actor for another SNL gig, but they have also butted heads in the past so it could really go either way.

The real gag is Eddie’s ep. of Saturday Night Live was the highest rated in TWO YEARS!! Take that, LMAO!
