For Billy Ray Cyrus, roles like Miley Cyrus├óΓé¼Γäós dad on Hannah Montana and a country singer on The CW’s 90210 haven├óΓé¼Γäót been much of a stretch. But now he├óΓé¼Γäós headed to the mean streets of Chi-town- by way of Broadway that is!
The multi-platinum recording artist will tread the boards for the first time this November and December as defense attorney Billy Flynn in the Tony Award-winning revival of Chicago.
The singer/actor reportedly saw the play last year, and predecessor John O’Hurley’s turn in the role touched his achy breaky heart. Billy Ray said:
“His performance was so brilliant… I fell in love with this character. He’s got a lot of heart and soul, but he’s got an agenda, too. I like that contradiction.”
Chicago├óΓé¼Γäós revival has been running continuously since 1996, almost since Billy Ray was still sporting that famous mullet. Let’s hope he looks just as comfortable in a 3-piece suit!
