The Empire Has Fallen! HBO's Boardwalk Premiere Wasn't So Stellar

Well this sucks.
Last year, when Boardwalk Empire ended, it drew in 3.3. million sets of eyeballs, all waiting to see how the dream team of Martin Scorsese, Mark Wahlberg and Steve Buscemi would wrap things up. That was after the show premiere to the largest series premiere audience for the network in six years. So naturally, everyone assumed when the show returned this week, it would do the same.
It did not.
The prohibition-era only brought in 2.9 million viewers, 40% less that what it premiered to last year. Of course, it had some stiff competition from the other networks having show premiere at the same time, but still, it isn’t such a good sign for the show.
