Earlier this month, Brandon stepped out to attend Vanity Fair‘s Oscars afterparty — and he made waves for wearing the exact same flower brooch that Justin wore to the It Ends With Us premiere! Literally, the same one!
It seemed like a sure sign of support to the director amid his legal battle with Blake Lively. But now Brandon is trying to walk it back!

The 1923 star spoke with People at SXSW ahead of the premiere of his new film Drop on Sunday. When asked if there was a “special meaning behind” the bling, the actor insisted it was just a coincidence, saying:
“Honestly no, I wish I could say there was.”
He continued:
“That was a total happenstance. I woke up in the morning and saw an article and I was like, ‘Oh, damn.’ I literally had no idea. I had an idea I wanted to wear like a floral brooch of some kind and that was the color that I liked the best. And, lo and behold, someone also wore that prior to me wearing it.”
Seriously??

Giving him the benefit of the doubt, one fan commented on TikTok:
“He didn’t know because Justin was in the basement and no one saw him”
LMFAO! We suppose it’s true that the men didn’t interact at the premiere; however, it seemed like Brandon went out of his way to get in touch with the same jeweler. He even hinted at the brooch’s history by captioning his own Instagram post:
“Vanity Fair X long live the ( brooch )”
Why write that if he’s not referencing Justin?? Hmm.
FWIW, this wouldn’t be the first time Brandon’s walked back his support for someone — if that’s what’s happening here.
He was really vocal in support of Blake at the start of this IEWU drama. But after sharing the Gossip Girl star’s complaint, he suddenly stopped standing up for her in public. When asked point-blank whose “team” he was on, the 34-year-old said neither!
Now, it seems like he’s refusing to even acknowledge his co-stars by name. Calling Justin “someone” in that interview shows how much he doesn’t want to be involved. Frankly, he better just start saying “no comment” and have his team do a little background check before he wears or does anything moving forward. ‘Cause, honestly, this is just getting messy!
