All of our mouths dropped when we watched the video of Bristol Palin and Stephen Hanks get into it at Saddle Ranch.

The spat received mixed reviews. Many people disagreed with the man’s unprovoked heckling and heavy words, but many also questioned Bristol’s comment, “Why do you hate my mom? Is it because you’re a homosexual?”
So Bristol is quick to clarify her words, insisting she is definitely not homophobic.
Her rep states:
She was approached in a confrontational and inappropriate manner when two men aggressively shouted expletives aimed at her in reference to her mother. Bristol responded to the unprovoked verbal assault by calmly standing her ground and defending her family. The situation ended with no incident, and accusing her of homophobia is completely unfounded and totally misstates her views.
While we completely agree the man was out of line, we can also understand why eyebrows were raised with her comment.
Though the man is in fact gay, jumping to the conclusion that that’s the only reason he could dislike Sarah Palin was a bit rash. Also, a bit delusional.
There is a giant list of reasons why many Americans dislike Sarah, and her anti-equality stance toward the LGBT community is just one of them.
Citizens also question her stance on women’s rights, the economy, her clear urge to fuse church with state, etc..
Of course, the heckler didn’t mention any of these when Bristol asked for an example, so the argument was a lose-lose.
Bristol is a separate individual from her mother. Her views do not have to be synonymous with Sarah’s, and she shouldn’t continue to be attacked for her mother’s beliefs.
While she did very well at maintaining her temper, maybe next time she should better maintain her words as well.
