Forget a plea deal — Cardi B wants her day in court!!
The Bodak Yellow rapper was at Queens Criminal Court in NYC this morning — surrounded by security and protected by the rain from multiple umbrellas — but the court appearance was short-lived, because instead of accepting a plea deal in her ongoing strip club assault case, she’s chosen to go to trial!

On Friday morning, Cardi appeared before a judge to officially reject a plea deal in that never-ending strip club assault case, as reported by multiple media outlets on scene in Queens. Sporting a lip ring and her impeccable sense of style on the way in, she created a bit of a media firestorm ahead of the appearance itself (below):

Once inside, though, it was all about the rejection. Had she pled guilty in the deal, according to reports, Cardi would have been on the hook for misdemeanor assault in the third degree — though the terms of the deal held that she wouldn’t have served any jail time.
Now, since she’s rejected the deal, there’s a chance she may go to jail on a more significant assault charge. Although with her day in court ahead, and a high-profile legal team at her back, the rapper is obviously banking on the hope that she can beat the case altogether.
Let’s not get ahead of ourselves there, though — her next court appearance isn’t until May 31st, and the trial itself has yet to be scheduled. Cardi did not comment publicly either when she entered or left the courtroom this morning; her attorney, Jeff Kern, did not return a request for comment, either.
As you’ll recall, the alleged assault occurred last August, and reportedly involved Cardi and Angel’s Strip Club bartenders Baddie Gi and Jade. The bartenders have claimed that Cardi ordered an attack on the women because she thought one of them had an affair with her husband, Offset.
Now, it appears the alleged events of the August night in question will be fully litigated in court. That should prove to be quite the media firestorm… not to mention the real-life ramifications if she’s found guilty and the potential jail-time consequences! Wow!
