Carey Mulligan will front a PR campaign for the Alzheimer’s Society in an attempt to raise awareness.
During Dementia Awareness Week, Carey will try and bring the condition to light, as it affects one in three people at the age of 65.
This includes her own grandmother who was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s in 2004.
Mulligan said:
“I am committed to helping the Alzheimer├óΓé¼Γäós Society in any way I can. My family and I rely on the help of organizations like Alzheimer├óΓé¼Γäós Society to help us understand the disease and guide us in the care of my grandmother.
By speaking about my grandmother├óΓé¼Γäós dementia I hope to shine a light on the condition. This Dementia Awareness Week we are asking people to ├óΓé¼╦£remember the person├óΓé¼Γäó by looking beyond someone├óΓé¼Γäós diagnosis of dementia and engaging with them.”
They hope to show that just because a person has dementia, it doesn’t mean they’re no longer a person.
