Cash Warren Said Jessica Alba Marriage Took 'Hard Work' Just 6 Months Before Breakup News

Jessica Alba and Cash Warren were seemingly hinting at marriage struggles long before news of their breakup dropped.

As Perezcious readers know, earlier this week, sources told TMZ that the couple has recently split after 16 years of marriage. While they have not filed for divorce yet, they are reportedly headed in that direction. Super sad and, frankly, pretty shocking. While neither Jessica nor Cash have commented on the divorce reports yet, their resurfaced interviews are shedding some light on what may have torn them apart.

In an interview with Us Weekly in July, the film producer opened up about his marriage taking “hard work,” sharing:

“I think, ultimately, the friendship and support and just knowing that your partner has your back means everything to us. I think that would be the secret, is just having each other’s back. It’s hard work, but we roll up our sleeves and we do it. It’s wild. It’s the longest relationship I could have ever imagined.”

The couple share kids Honor, 16, Haven, 13, and Hayes, 7, and have been together a total of 20 years. Really impressive, and he was clearly proud of it despite acknowledging it’s not always easy.

As for what helped the romance be so successful for so long, he continued:

“For us, it’s getting out of the house and going and staying somewhere else for a night. Unplugging is big. We love taking walks. We love chatting. We love eating good food together. We have so many of the same interests that we enjoy. What’s awesome is that we’re also still willing to participate.”

He also credited the actress for always teaching him “new things.” Even when she chose to take a step back from her massively successful Honest Company, he was thrilled for her, gushing:

“What she was able to accomplish with the Honest Company is amazing and she’s still involved. She’s still on the board. We’re obviously still a Honest household. I’ve just been blown away that she was able to so elegantly step down from her role with Honest and jump back into acting and immediately find success like that. It’s mind blowing to me. I’m just like, ‘How do you do that?!’”

Well, he sure seemed supportive AF!!

Jessica, on the other hand, got a bit more candid when she opened up about her relationship. As we covered, she appeared on Katherine Schwarzenegger Pratt’s BDA Baby podcast in April, she talked about her marriage — but had a VERY different take on it. When asked how she balances everything while making sure “your husband feels tended to,” Jessica replied:

“If you’ve figured it out in your relationship, let me know. You know, I think that [Cash] probably gets the short end of the stick. … It’s hard. It’s impossible.”

She also urged listeners “to communicate when you’re unhappy and nipping it right away instead of letting it sort of, like, fester,” explaining:

“We have, obviously, the friendship, the comfort of, like, ‘You’re not going anywhere.’ And so sometimes you don’t treat those people the best, right? You don’t consider their feelings in the way that you would consider other people’s feelings. So that is something that I think is a constant — it’s a constant one to work on.”

She even claimed they’d “become roommates” who were “just going through the motions” and “checking the boxes.” Brutal!

So interesting that they were talking about pretty much the same thing but had polar opposite perspectives on it! Guess that shows they weren’t on the same page… But was Cash being truthful when gushing about his wife?? Or was he just trying to hide the fact they were dealing with relationships problems? ‘Cause if you only listened to his interview, you’d think they were the picture perfect pair. Oof.
