James Gunn To Write & Possibly Direct DC’s ‘Suicide Squad 2’ After Being Fired From Marvel’s ‘Guardians Of The Galaxy’
Looks like James Gunn might be switching from Marvel to DC.
As you’ll probably remember, the director of Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy series was fired from the franchise’s third installment back in July.
The decision was the result of a viral alt-right campaign against the outspoken Donald Trump resistor — a campaign that involved resurfacing gross, disgusting, old tweets from Gunn’s past. Despite petitions from friends and actors to reinstate him, Gunn was never rehired.
But it looks like he won’t be out of a job much longer! Three insiders just revealed to TheWrap that James is in talks with DC to direct the next installment of the Suicide Squad series, starring celebs like Will Smith, Margot Robbie, and Jared Leto. According to Deadline, he’s already signed on to write the script.
This would be a huge get for DC as the first film wasn’t exactly considered a critical darling, but if Gunn gets at the helm, anything is possible.
We’d like to see him back in action. What do you think?
