Chance The Rapper Clarifies Kanye West Defense, Says He Doesn't Support Trump -- But Did He Just Call Out Obama!?

Chance The Rapper wants zero problems with y’all.
The rapper issued an apology on Friday after getting heat for supporting Kanye West‘s controversial political stance and apparent Donald Trump endorsement this week.
After telling his followers that “black people don’t have to be democrats,” which seemingly echoed Kanye’s political rant, Chano assured his fans that he doesn’t agree with everything Kanye said — and he DEFINITELY doesn’t support Trump.

The Coloring Book artist explained that his tweet about black people not having to be democrats had more to do with his hometown Chicago — a city that, as he put it, “has had generations of democratic officials with no investment or regard for black schools, neighborhood, or black lives.”
“Democratic officials”… Wait. Is he firing shots at Barack Obama?!
Days before Chance’s apology, Kanye claimed the former Illinois State Senator didn’t do anything for the city of Chicago during his time in office, tweeting:

Chance, Kanye, and Barack are all from Chi-Town, so it’s easy to see why the well-being of the city is such a hot button issue for the two rappers.
Over the years, Chance has helped establish organizations and events to better the community throughout his career. Kanye has recently pledged to do the same.
And just like he has love for his city, Chance made it clear he’s passionate about his “loved ones,” which is why he felt the need to defend his “mentor.” He wrote:

“Anyone who knows me knows how passionate I am about my city and my loved ones. Kanye West is not just a mentor or big homie to me. He’s my family. No matter how much I may disagree with him, it’s hard for me to watch people talk about someone I love ├óΓé¼ΓÇ£ even if they were justified in doing so.”

But don’t for a second think any of this means Chance fucks with Trump:

He added in his apology:

“I’d never support anyone who has made a career out of hatred, racism and discrimination. I’d never support someone who’d talk about Chicago as if it’s hell on earth and then take steps to make life harder here for the most disenfranchised among us.”

Phew. Looks like we won’t be seeing Chance wearing a signed MAGA hat… unlike his mentor.
