Connie Chung is opening up about a horrible moment in her life.
In her new book, Connie: A Memoir, the legendary 78-year-old journalist looked back on the time she was “sexually molested” by a “trusted family doctor” — the same one who delivered her when she was born way back on August 20, 1946. In the memoir, Connie wrote that after she “had advanced to the so-called heavy petting stage” in relationships while in college, she scheduled an appointment with the physician, who has since passed away, to get “protection from pregnancy.”

The news anchor “never” had a gynecological exam and had no idea what to expect during her first visit. And it turned out to be a nightmare experience for Connie. She recalled:
“Not understanding or knowing what he was doing, I stared at the ceiling. With his right index finger, he massaged my clitoris. Simultaneously he inserted his right middle finger in my vagina.”
What the f**k. Throughout the assault, Connie said the doctor was “coaching” her. She continued:
“Suddenly, to my shock, for the first time in my life, I had an orgasm. My body jerked several times. Then he leaned over, kissed me, a peck on my lips, and slipped behind the curtain to retreat to his office area. I did not say a word. I could not even look at him.”
We cannot imagine how hard this must have been for Connie. It is sickening that a doctor — someone you are supposed to trust with your care — would take advantage of a patient while she was in a vulnerable position. And she sadly was not the only one he assaulted.
Connie first revealed that she was sexually assaulted by the doctor in October 2018. After going public with her story, Connie wrote in the book that one of her sisters called her to tell her that she was assaulted by the physician, too. Heartbreaking. Connie added:
“Sometimes I wonder if that incident served to toughen me up so that I could handle any blatant sexual situations. I was no longer naïve in that department.”
So awful…
We applaud Connie for bravely sharing her story, but we’re still so very sorry that she had to go through it in the first place, too. Reactions, Perezcious readers? Let us know in the comments.
