CoverGirl Issues A Statement About Their Photoshopped Black Eye Ad For The NFL

covergirl issues statement regarding game face black eye photo
This just isn’t a strong enough response.
Yesterday we told you about how CoverGirl had their Baltimore Ravens “Get Your Game Face On” ad hijacked by Twitter, and photoshopped with a black eye over the model.
You know, because the NFL apparently doesn’t feel too strongly about domestic violence, as we learned with this whole Ray Rice fiasco!
Well, it created a PR nightmare for the beauty company, and they released a statement about their partnership with the league, saying:

“As a brand that has always supported women and stood for female empowerment, COVERGIRL believes domestic violence is completely unacceptable. We developed our NFL program to celebrate the more than 80 million female football fans. In light of recent events, we have encouraged the NFL to take swift action on their path forward to address the issue of domestic violence.”

Um, that seems like a pretty weak and vanilla response to us.
Obviously, the league kinda just makes up the rules as they go along (in this instance anyway), so, encouraging the NFL to take swift action is like encouraging a kid to clean his room… probably not going to happen.
Sigh!
