We wonder if this is true!
We’ve been hearing a lot about CTE recently — chronic traumatic encephalopathy, the brain disease caused by repeated blows to the head in athletes like football players — and now Cuba Gooding Jr. has made some inneresting comments about it and O.J. Simpson.

Gooding Jr., who of course is portraying Simpson in the new FX series The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story, spoke about what he felt were some aspects of CTE that may have manifested in Simpson:

“You’ll see an episode that the details the actual 911 tapes based on the domestic violence that he experienced, that Nicole Brown Simpson experienced. One of the aspects of having CTE is that the physical manifestation of that aggression that your brain motivates in a person is something that’s uncontrollable and memorable. I think that it’s just so very telling in his behavior.”

Scary!!!
Obviously, we’ve seen far too much tragedy allegedly around CTE, be it Simpson’s case, or that of Dave Mirra, or the rash of suicide and violence that has afflicted athletes in the NFL and other leagues.
So while we watch this show with great interest, let’s hope science will soon pinpoint causes and help those experiencing brain trauma to live happier, healthier, longer lives.
You can watch The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story on Tuesday at 10 p.m. ET, only on FX.
