It felt almost like a different episode of Dancing With the Stars tonight.
That’s because not only was Len Goodman missing again, but Erin Andrews was absent too!
Pitbull opened the night because if there’s anyone who is less of an authority on judging dance than Jessie J, it’s Mr. 305.
But the real star of the evening was Leah Remini, who made her return to the DWTS stage to serve as a sassy co-host to Tom Bergeron!
After being told they were in jeopardy, Jonathan Bennett and Allison Holker started things off with a Jazz set to guest judge Pitbull’s Back In Time. While it may have been his best dance so far, it was still pretty awkward and definitely didn’t deserve the 32 out of 40 it scored.
One of the other couples at risk of getting eliminated, Janel Parrish and Val Chmerkovskiy, followed them up with an impressive Samba set to Celia Cruz. The judges questioned their passion, but the dance was impeccable and we are really feeling the love connection blossoming between the two. Janelskiy only got one point higher than Jonathan’s dance, which is a crime, but we’ll take it. Plus, we are shipping them hardcore!
Tommy Chong proved why he’s still in the competition tonight, and that’s to provide humor. The duo’s package followed the 76-year-old as he took partner Peta Murgatroyd to a sweatlodge to get back in the zone, only to have Tommy get high from heatstroke and see past contestant Cloris Leachman floating in the sun. It was hilarious, and made us really bummed that he only got a 28 for his Foxtrot.
Up fourth were Antonio Sabato, Jr. and Cheryl Burke, who, once again, were unimpressive and also scored a 28. That’s all.
Following Antonio were Sadie Robertson and Mark Ballas who gave a nice Rumba set to Rihanna‘s Diamonds. We started to realize that we like Sadie as a person more than as a dancer, because she just doesn’t seem to be improving. It was a nice dance though. Did it deserve a ten? Who’s to say.
Lea Thompson and Artem Chigvintsev were next, and… um… it was awkward to watch. Lea has been walking the line between sexy and trying really hard to be younger all season, and tonight she finally crossed the line. Her sultry dance moves came off as a little creepy and definitely not sexy. Next time, Lea.
Michael Waltrip and Emma Slater may have gotten fives last week, but they really tried to turn things around tonight. And even though they were in the bottom three for the week, the judges think they did great! We didn’t love it, but they scored pretty well with a 30.
Bethany Mota and Derek Hough gave the penultimate dance of the night, and it was nice! We’re also not really feeling like Bethany is growing at all, but she and Derek are fun together, so we’re not complaining. They scored a 36 out of 40, giving them the second most points for the night!
Alfonso Ribeiro and Whitney Carson closed out the show following a dramatic injury on the pro’s part during dress rehearsal! They danced a Salsa to J.Lo‘s Booty, and they did a pretty nice job! So nice, in fact, that they were just one point away from a perfect score!
So that left Jonathan, Janel, and Michael in the bottom three, with it being a toss up between the former and the latter for who deserved to go home.
But, the couple who was eliminated from the competition was…
Jonathan and Allison!!!
We’re sad to see them go, but if it meant keeping Janel and Val safe, it’s a sacrifice we’re willing to have made.
