Danny Trejo just became a real-life hero!
The Machete actor, widely known for playing villains throughout his Hollywood career, got the timely chance to play the role of Good Samaritan on Wednesday when he helped save a small child from an overturned vehicle.
Per ABC 7 News, Trejo happened to be in the Sylmar area of Los Angeles when a two-car collision occurred, forcing him to spring into action and help out just in the nick of time.

In a video shared by the outlet, the 75-year-old explained to authorities on the scene he witnessed a lady run a red light and crash into another vehicle, which caused it to flip over on its roof. Unfortunately, there was an elderly grandma and special-needs child trapped inside.
Trejo reportedly crawled into the totaled car from one side and attempted to free the tot, but couldn’t reach the child’s car seat. The scary scenario prompted a female bystander to step in and assist from the other side.
Speaking to reporters, Trejo recalled:
“I couldn’t get the baby out. I couldn’t unbuckle the seatbelt so she got in and undid the seatbelt. I pulled the baby out of the other outside.”
WHOA. Talk about acting fast!!!
Their combined efforts allowed for the little one’s safe and successful rescue as law enforcement and firefighters arrived with more help. The Los Angeles Fire Department was also able to remove the senior driver out of the car.
The actor said he leaned into his background of working with special-needs children and tried his best to distract the small boy while everything went down:
“He was panicked. I said OK, we have to use our superpowers. So he screamed ‘superpowers’ and we started yelling ‘superpowers.’ I said ‘do this, with the muscles.’ He said ‘muscles.’ We got kind of a bond. I kept facing him away from the accident.”
Hear him tell the heroic tale himself in the videos (below):

A spokesperson for the LAFD reports the injured parties were transported to a hospital, but did not suffer any life-threatening injuries. The official cause of the accident is still being investigated.
Although the Spy Kids actor was undoubtedly a hero in this scenario, he believes the real life-saver was the baby’s car seat.
“And the only thing that saved that little kid was his car seat, honest to God.”
In fact, from Trejo’s perspective, his selfless act of kindness was simply about paying it forward. He admitted:
“Everything good that has happened to me, has happened as a direct result from helping someone else.”
How touching!
