Daryl Hannah, actress and incredible badass, has just opened up about being diagnosed with austism when she was a kid!
She said that as a child, the news brought with it a ‘debilitating shyness’ and a struggle to quietly manage her symptoms without anyone catching on. We mean, that would be a huge thing for someone who’s been in countless movies — like Blade Runner and Wall Street — to reveal, without anyone having known!
Here’s what she said:
‘I├óΓé¼Γäóve never been comfortable being the center of attention. It├óΓé¼Γäós always freaked me out. I├óΓé¼Γäóm a grown up now, I├óΓé¼Γäóve learned a couple of things that really would├óΓé¼Γäóve made my life easier if I├óΓé¼Γäód known them 20 years ago.’
If things are getting too stressful, she’ll even find herself rocking back and forth. She even avoided doing interviews and talk shows to avoid it:
‘Not because I was above it, but because I was terrified. I wasted so much time scared, self-conscious and insecure. Life is too short to stress the small things anymore.’
It just goes to show that even with varying degrees of autism, there CAN be a life for those out there who have been diagnosed! She just turned right into a walking inspiration for those who fear the unknown when it comes to something like that!
