UPDATE 7:30 A.M. PST: Demi apologized for hurting or offending any of her fans after receiving backlash over this vacay.
Amid the country’s conflict with Palestine, the starlet revealed she was not making a “political statement” by visiting Israel, but was merely focusing on having a spiritual experience.
In a lengthy Instagram Story posted on her account, she wrote:
“I’m extremely frustrated. I accepted a free trip to Israel in exchange for a few posts. No one told me there would be anything wrong with going or that I could possibly be offending anyone. With that being said, I’m sorry if I’ve hurt or offended anyone, that was no my intention.”
Lovato continued:
“Sometimes people present you with opportunities and no one tells you the potential backlash you could face in return. This was meant to be a spiritual experience for me, NOT A POLITICAL STATEMENT and now I realize it hurt people and for that I’m sorry. Sorry I’m not more educated and sorry for thinking this trip was just a spiritual experience. Going against all advice right now and apologizing because it feels right to me and I’d rather get in trouble for being authentic to myself than staying quiet to please other people. I love my fans, all of them, from all over.”
The 27-year-old ended up deleting her message, most likely after those who advised her not to post it got to her. We can’t imagine her team was thrilled over her going rogue, especially since this “free trip” was a business transaction.

Thoughts?
Demi Lovato is growing spiritually after a recent trip to Israel!
On Tuesday, the singer revealed photos on Instagram from her travels, while opening up about being baptized in the Jordan River.

Demi, who shared the (above) pic among a slew of others, wrote in the caption of one post:
“I am an American singer. I was raised Christian and have Jewish ancestors. When I was offered an amazing opportunity to visit the places I’d read about in the Bible growing up, I said yes.
There is something absolutely magical about Israel. I’ve never felt such a sense of spirituality or connection to God…something I’ve been missing for a few years now. Spirituality is so important to me…to be baptized in the Jordan river – the same place Jesus was baptized – I’ve never felt more renewed in my life.”
Lovato continued about the wholeness she felt following her visit:
“This trip has been so important for my well-being, my heart, and my soul. I’m grateful for the memories made and the opportunity to be able to fill the God-sized hole in my heart. Thank you for having me, Israel ?”
It sounds like this trip couldn’t have come at a better time!
While the Confident performer seems to be doing amazingly between her new fling with The Bachelorette alum Mike Johnson and her new acting gig on Will & Grace, it was only last July when she was hospitalized after a near-fatal overdose.
The 27-year-old has come a long way on her journey, so we can really feel the emotion behind her words and pics in her full post (below):

Demi also visited Yad Vashem: The World Holocaust Remembrance Center during her visit, sharing photos and the caption (below):
“My heart was absolutely broken in Yad Vashem. This was such a beautiful tribute and a reminder that we can never forget.”

Additionally, the former Disney star took a trip to the Shalva National Center, which provides services to those with disabilities all the way from infancy to adulthood.
The Camp Rock actress shared:
“While I was over there I fell in love with this little beauty at the Shalva National Center. What an amazing center for children with special needs ?”
