Dictator Or Dummy?? Trump Actually Asks Congress To Investigate Obama Netflix Deal!

Donald Trump Barack Obama Netflix Deal Congress Investigation

Serious question: is Donald Trump just a complete buffoon, pathologically unable to see his own faults, or worse… shrewdly pulling from the dictator playbook?

There’s plenty of evidence for all three, and to be honest we just don’t know anymore.

In his latest ridiculous overstep, the reality TV president took to Twitter to suggest Congress investigate his predecessor’s post-presidency business dealings.

In a complaint about the many investigations into himself he wrote:

“House Judiciary has given up on the Mueller Report, sadly for them after two years and $40,000,000 spent – ZERO COLLUSION, ZERO OBSTRUCTION. So they say, OK, lets look at everything else, and all of the deals that “Trump” has done over his lifetime. But it doesn’t work that way.”

OK, first off… why did he put Trump in quotes? That actually is his name. He knows that, right?

Second… the lies about the Mueller Report will never stop. First off, the investigation actually may have paid for itself. While it did cost millions, as all massive investigations do, it actually made the government money when Trump’s former campaign manager Paul Manafort alone forfeited over an estimated $40 million in assets. Coloring it as a huge waste of money is a total misdirect.

Third, the report did NOT exonerate Trump on collusion OR obstruction. You can tell by the fact it literally contains the phrase “while this report does not conclude that the president committed a crime, it also does not exonerate him.”

The report instead displayed “substantial evidence” of the POTUS’ crimes of obstruction to Congress, who is now supposed to take that evidence and continue to investigate. It’s their job.

Trump, however, would rather Congress do something different. He continued on Twitter:

“I have a better idea. Look at the Obama Book Deal, or the ridiculous Netflix deal. Then look at all the deals made by the Dems in Congress, the “Congressional Slush Fund,” and lastly the IG Reports. Take a look at them. Those investigations would be over FAST!”

Really? He’s trying to get Congress to investigate Barack and Michelle Obama‘s deal with Netflix?

In case you hadn’t seen, back in May of 2018 the streaming giant signed the Obamas to a multi-year deal to produce content for them, “potentially including scripted series, unscripted series, docu-series, documentaries, and features.”

For someone not in the TV business, someone who for instance was essentially tarted up to look like a successful businessman on a reality-free reality show, the deal might not make sense. But it’s exactly what networks do, they sign people to exclusive deals, usually when they’re at their hottest.

When Michelle Obama comes up with an idea for a documentary, they want it. So they’re paying in advance, no bidding war, no chance of missing out. It’s that simple. Nothing “ridiculous” about it. It’s how the industry works.

(As you may recall, just last month Netflix signed a deal with the creators of Game Of Thrones, something they probably had been working out since before the horribly received finale.)

He’s seriously suggesting they be investigated for that? Total whataboutism, something for his base to parrot when critics point out Trump’s obvious corruption.

Meanwhile, what is Trump under investigation for?

  • missing Inauguration funds
  • years of self-dealing at his charity (it was forced to shut down last year)
  • decades of shady real estate deals with Russian oligarchs tied to Putin
  • suspected tax fraud (some of which he could disprove by releasing his tax returns… which he refuses to do)
  • using the office of the Presidency to enrich himself by, for instance, encouraging foreign dignitaries and U.S. service members to stay at his own hotels
  • much, much more…

There’s a huge difference here between the Obamas using their cache as beloved public figures to cash in after the fact and Trump having conflicts of interest while in office. Not to mention the vulnerabilities inherent with potentially being tied up in foreign interests…

We’d call this the pot calling the kettle black, but this is really a case of the pot calling out something no darker than, well, a tan suit.

Ten tweets later in the tirade, Trump eventually returned to his point, writing:

“They failed on the Mueller Report, they failed on Robert Mueller’s testimony, they failed on everything else, so now the Democrats are trying to build a case that I enrich myself by being President. Good idea, except I will, and have always expected to, lose BILLIONS of DOLLARS for the privilege of being your President – and doing the best job that has been done in many decades. I am far beyond somebody paying for a hotel room for the evening, or filling up a gas tank at an airport I do not own. These Radical Left Democrats are CRAZY! Obama Netflix?”

Does anyone actually believe Obama put in years of public service and work on the economy and healthcare… all because he was planning on getting a payoff from a business which, when he started his presidency, was a mail-order alternative Blockbuster?

So back to our question…

At the end of the day, the idea of trying to get investigations started under false pretenses against his political rivals is a total dictator move.

But sentences like “Obama Netflix”? We just don’t know, man. That seems so idiotic.

What do YOU think??
