Not even Drew Barrymore is immune to bad dating etiquette. Or, you know… f**kboy behavior.
During Monday’s episode of The Drew Barrymore Show, the host opened up to Ross Matthews and Valerie Bertinelli about a not-so-great dating experience earlier this month… The dude totally ghosted her! The Charlie’s Angels star explained:
“Since then, I texted him, and I was like, ‘Lovely to see you again the other night.’ We went back and forth twice, and then he ended with, ‘Haaaaa.’ And I haven’t heard anything.”
Oof… Not that ‘Haaaaa.’ She continued:
“It just happens. I don’t know why. I don’t know why. I would never do that. It doesn’t cross my mind to behave like that. Like, if you put a fishing pole in it, why are you not going to follow through?”
Can anyone really explain why people ghost?? Sometimes we’re sure it’s fear — fear of confrontation, of telling the truth that they’re just not that into it. Other times it’s more like the people who don’t return their carts after grocery shopping — just pure lazy selfishness. Either way, it’s just bad etiquette!

Drew acknowledged ghosting happens to “the best of us,” but that doesn’t make it any easier… Especially when cryptic messaging is involved beforehand:
“Today, my friend said, ‘Well, did he answer the ‘ha’ with one A?’ … And I was like, ‘No, it was like five or six A’s.’ And they were like, ‘Oh no, that’s great.’”
At that point, Ross chimed in to offer a guy’s perspective:
“I do have to say, as a man … it is slightly more encouraging that he was like, ‘Hahahahaha.’ That means the conversation’s going. It wasn’t ‘Ha,’ period.”
We mean, we guess? Except it didn’t keep going! No matter how he typed it out!
Drew added:
“I’ll tell you what’s next: English. Like, just clear words. I don’t wanna date in a way that if I get four A’s, I’m in. I don’t know what that means. It’s cryptic out there, so let’s just not indulge in people who waste our time. Those people are actually time-savers.”
Seriously!
The Wedding Singer star went on to talk about the “critical place” we often find ourselves in when we think there’s something wrong with ourselves, but offered some words of advice:
“If there’s one thing that the wisdom of my life is giving to me now at 50 years old, it’s to be a little … a lot kinder to ourselves. You deserve nothing less than goodness.”
Poor Drew! At least we all know she has an amazing personality. Better luck next time!
