Duggar Family Denies Reports Of Arkansas Family House Being Raided By Homeland Security

Michelle and Jim Bob Duggar have denied local reports that their Tontitown, Arkansas home was raided by Homeland Security Investigations agents last week.

This denial comes after an HSI spokesperson told KNWA:

“[I do not dispute the information that] HSI was present there [Duggar home] pursuant to an on-going federal criminal investigation.”

Chad Gallagher, a representative for the family, issued a statement following the news:

“We were shocked to see a news report today state that our home was raided by federal law enforcement agencies. This is not true. To the best of our knowledge, it’s also not true that any member of our family is the target of any investigation of any kind.”

The message continued:

“Living a life in the public’s eye has taught us that it is best not to reply to every rumor and piece of ‘fake news’ that is circulated online. It would be a full-time job if we attempted to do so. However, because of tonight’s media coverage we thought it is important to address this rumor with you. Thank you for the love and support that we can always count on in you our fans and friends.”

Per the NBC affiliate, HSI did not comment on why its agents were at the property, and the United States District Attorney for Western Arkansas would not give a comment. Per the agency’s federal website, the HSI is the investigative arm of the Department of Homeland Security which investigates “all types of cross-border criminal activity,” including:

“Financial crimes, money laundering and bulk cash smuggling, Commercial fraud and intellectual property theft; cybercrimes, human rights violations, human smuggling and trafficking, immigration fraud, narcotics and weapons smuggling/trafficking, transnational gang activity, export enforcement, and international art and antiquity theft.”

20-year-old Jedidiah Duggar, who recently filed papers to run for State Representative, commented on the news out of his family home:

“I don’t live there and I am not aware of any investigation.”

The matriarch and patriarch may not be on TV anymore, but many of the older Duggar kids returned to TLC with their spin-off series Counting On, focusing on their married lives and kids.

Most recently, Josh Duggar was sued earlier this year for real estate fraud. Per KARK, a three-day jury trial is set to begin in April 2020 for the eldest member of the Duggar brood who is “accused of fraud and is being sued for ‘quiet title’ and breaching a contract, according to court records.”
