Ellen DeGeneres & Oprah Winfrey Get Emotional Sharing The 'Devastating' Mudslide Damage To Their Montecito Neighborhood

no title
Oprah Winfrey‘s property is just a mess.
The Golden GlobesCecil B. DeMille Award recipient showed off the damage to her 65-acre estate from the deadly Montecito mudslides that ravaged her and Ellen DeGeneres‘ neighborhood in Santa Barbara County, California.
Ellen got emotional on Thursday’s broadcast as she shared photos of her beloved community (dubbed “The Promised Land”) after being struck by Tuesday’s catastrophic mudslides that have claimed the lives of 17 people.
Revealing there are still families missing from the “tight-knit” neighborhood, the daytime host made sure to note the community is “filled with a lot of different types of people from all backgrounds” who aren’t all wealthy A-listers.

But even the area’s celeb residents were hit badly: Ellen and wife Portia de Rossi were forced to evacuate from their home while Oprah’s property was flooded with mud.
Though when she FaceTimed with Ellen to share the “devastating” damage with the audience, Big O made it clear that her neighbors suffered much worse, revealing all the homes down the hill from her estate were “gutted.”
And after speaking about the damage with Ventura City County firefighters, the Wrinkle In Time star ended with an uplifting message about how to move forward from the natural disaster. (Do we smell a mayoral campaign announcement in the future?)
Our hearts go out to all those in Montecito. Check out the clips (below):
