Eric Dane isn’t letting his ALS keep him from doing what he loves.
On Tuesday, the Grey’s Anatomy alum sat down with E! News to discuss what his battle with the rare neurodegenerative disorder means for his acting career. And fans will rejoice after hearing what he has to say! The 52-year-old made clear he’s nowhere near retiring:
“I’m going to ride this ’til the wheels fall off. It keeps me sharp. It keeps me moving forward, which is super important right now. I feel great when I’m at work. Of course, there have been some sort of setbacks, but I feel pretty good.”

The Bad Boys: Ride or Die star continued:
“My spirit is always pretty buoyant, so at the end of the day, that’s all that matters.”
Earlier this week, Eric revealed on Good Morning America that he only has “one functioning arm” at this point in his health battle. He explained:
“My left side is functioning. My right side, [which is my dominant side], has completely stopped working. [My left arm] is going. I feel like maybe a couple, a few more months and I won’t have my left … I’m worried about my legs.”
That’s so sad… So what does that mean for filming ongoing projects? Like Euphoria?
As we’ve been following, the HBO drama is currently shooting its third season. But Eric is fixed on shooting for as long as he’s physically capable! He told Variety last week:
“I will ride that show until the wheels fall off. I don’t know what the fate of the show is. I do know that it takes a heroic effort to put it together. If all the elements are going to be there to keep going, I would work on it as long as they’ll have me.”
Can he tease anything about Season 3? No, he literally CAN’T. He told Variety:
“Listen, I don’t know anything. I haven’t seen a script. We get pages maybe a day or two before, but it’s all kept on the D.L.”
It’s not clear how big Eric’s role will be in the third season or whether it’s had to be re-written to accommodate his condition. He did mention:
“I am ready and willing to do just about anything, but I have limitations that I understand will preclude me from playing certain roles.”
We’re just so happy to hear he’s keeping himself busy. And we get more McSteamy in our lives! Well, Cal we guess. But still.
