Ariana Grande‘s boyfriend Ethan Slater is going to do everything he can to support her as she embarks on an exciting but scary next chapter!
The pop star is set to start her Eternal Sunshine Tour next month, something that’s been stressful for her ever since the devastating Manchester bombing in 2019. It’s why she’s doing a limited run of 30 shows. A source told DailyMail.com on Thursday that “taking on a world concert tour” similar to the Eras Tour was “too much for [Grande] to even consider,” they added:
“The stress of doing around 30 dates is all she can handle.”
The confidant reflected:
“Ariana has been prepping for her US and UK concert tour for months, but she’s still haunted by the horrific Manchester Arena bombing. She had nightmares about it for months. She had a meltdown.”
Aw. We can’t imagine the emotions that must still linger after such a horrific incident. Moving forward, she’s going out of her way to protect herself and her fans:
“She has insisted on double security on all the dates. She refused to go ahead with it if that clause wasn’t agreed to. Although it has helped to calm her nerves, the Manchester tragedy will always be on her mind while she’s touring. She knows her fans are out there and she loves singing on stage for them. That is why she is doing the concerts, despite her flashbacks to Manchester.”
But it will be stressful — so much so, her beau is willing to put his career on hold to support her! The insider explained:
“He plans to be there for her during the tour on as many dates as possible.”
He really means it, too, they dished:
“He has a couple of potential conflicts, but he’s trying to work around them so he’s her support system. He’s even turned down an acting role that would have meant him hardly being by her side.”
Whoa, that says a lot!
That said, another source pointed out that the couple’s conflicting schedules has led them to spend less time together lately — making fans question what’s really going on behind the scenes. The insider shared:
“Ariana has been in Los Angeles doing tour rehearsals. Ethan has been in New York City while she’s there. He hasn’t visited her and she’s been too busy to get back east for more than a couple days.”
Even when they were in the Big Apple at the same time, they didn’t step out together! Fans were “surprised to see [Ethan] solo” supporting Frankie Grande at Broadway‘s opening night of Titanique. Ariana later attended on Mother’s Day, but “he did not go with her even though he was in town,” and many “thought it was odd.” Hmm.

Despite this, the insider said their relationship has “been going really well” and the singer’s family “really likes” him. But it still can’t be denied that they “definitely seem to be spending less time together.” The source added:
“Ariana definitely has a type and likes things in a relationship to be a certain way – her way. She’s usually the dominant one when it comes to who has say.”
We’ll have to wait and see if Ethan’s really by her side at the concerts!
While there is some anxiety heading into these shows, a third source insisted she’s “very excited” to connect with fans:
“She is very excited about returning to the stage to perform for her fans and to release her eighth album this summer.”
We hope it goes well!!
